What is Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia?
As the epidemic swept across the world, numerous businesses struggled to adapt to the sudden changes, leading to closures and employee layoffs. In response, the Malaysian government rolled out various assistance schemes to support its citizens during these challenging times.
In 2022, the Malaysian Finance Minister introduced BKM as a crucial initiative. Geared towards assisting those in need, especially the B40 group, in recovering from the pandemic and alleviating the challenges of a high cost of living, BKM is a direct cash aid program initiated in Budget 2022.
The primary goal is to help low-income groups ease their financial burdens. The decision to provide financial support was made in consideration of rising living expenses and food prices, aiming to support individuals during these challenging times.
RM300 Support Payment for Seniors Coming on this day
BKM has concluded; kindly refer to the latest Government Grant 2023. Phase 1 payments will be distributed in March 2022, with Phase 4 completed in December 2022. The payments were disbursed in four stages.
No need to reapply if you’re already receiving GKP, BPR, or BKC. Automatic reconsideration for those previously denied assistance is in place. However, if you’ve never applied for BPR, GKP, or BKC aid, then you should submit an application.
BKM Amount
BKM, ranging from RM1,000 to RM2,000, is now accessible for households with up to four children. For households earning between RM2,500 and RM5,000, BKM varies from RM500 to RM1,000 based on the number of children.
Tengku Zafrul mentioned, “Senior citizens who are single or without a spouse will continue to receive BKM of RM600 and RM350, respectively, depending on their income level.” Additionally, starting in 2023, single parents with dependents will receive an extra RM500 in assistance.
This means a single parent could receive up to RM3,000 in benefits, marking an increase from RM2,500 this year, reflecting the elevated maximum BKM rate.
