What is Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia?

The sudden global epidemic left numerous businesses struggling, leading to closures and layoffs. Responding to the crisis, the Malaysian government implemented various assistance programs to support citizens facing challenging times.

The BKM initiative, announced by the Malaysian Finance Minister in 2022, is geared towards aiding individuals in need, especially the B40 group, in recovering from the pandemic and coping with the challenges of a high cost of living. Introduced in Budget 2022, BKM is a direct cash aid program with the goal of lightening the financial burden for low-income groups. The decision to provide financial support was made in consideration of rising living expenses and food prices.
