2024 Minimum Wage Increase Date

In Ontario, the minimum wage is connected to annual indexation, determined by the inflation rate. Any changes are usually announced by April 1 and take effect on October 1. If the government opts for a 2024 increase, it would likely be effective from October 1, 2024. Any mid-pay period changes would be treated as separate periods, with workers receiving the applicable minimum wage for each. The recent rise to $16.55 per hour has positioned Ontario with one of Canada’s highest minimum wage rates, benefiting many workers.
