THE BEST GRAPHICS CARDS FOR SIM RACING 2

Updated on August 6, 2022

Even if your platform isn’t, your computer’s hardware plays a significant effect in your Sim Racing experience.

When competing on a console, you don’t have to be concerned with the game’s technological specifications.

However, if you’re a PC sim racer, your system specs will show you just how good your machine really is at gaming.

IMPORTANCE OF A COMPETENT GRAPHICS CARD

When it comes to sim racing, the hardware you use is vitally crucial.

Not even Assetto Corsa Competizione will reveal the extent to which your CPU has an effect.

The performance of your CPU affects the physics of your car, systems, tracks, and AI.

As important as or even more important than your CPU is creating the graphics that appear on your screen.

Your graphics card is responsible for a variety of visual and destructive effects during any given event.

The graphics processing unit also renders the game’s textures, surfaces, lighting, and shadows (GPU).

The following is an easy-to-follow guide to help you choose the best graphics card for your system:

WHAT ELEMENTS ARE IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A GRAPHICS CARD?

BUDGET

It’s difficult for many gamers to afford high-end graphics cards. With a little patience, you may save money on the most recent RTX and Radeon RX graphics cards with a slightly reduced performance.

Plan beforehand and stick to your schedule. Consider what you genuinely require in order to have a clearer view of your financial situation.

TECHNOLOGY OFFERED

There is no right or wrong answer here. The performance of your GPU and the size of your display are linked, and the GPU’s capabilities are determined by the display’s size. If you want to race in 4K at 60FPS with the greatest technology, you’ll have to fork up a significant sum of cash (if they are available, that is).

The majority of GPUs on the market, on the other hand, are adequate for 1080p gaming at 30-60FPS. If you don’t require cards with Ray Tracing and DLSS, you can save money by not purchasing them.

BOTTLENECK SPECS

Finally, a well-balanced PC configuration is essential.

One of your hardware devices can become a “bottleneck” if it’s severely weak compared to the rest of your equipment.

With an RTX 2080 and an Intel i3, the CPU becomes a bottleneck and you can’t get the most out of your GPU.

A high-end Nvidia GPU or even an Intel Core i9 processor is useless with only 4GB of RAM. In other words, build a PC that meets your needs and your budget.

OUR TOP GRAPHICS CARD RECOMMENDATIONS

As supplies are limited and do not meet most gamers’ budgets, we have omitted the 30-series from our list.

As a result, here are our top choices for top-of-the-line graphics cards for racing simulation.

GIGABYTE RADEON RX 5600 XT

To begin, we’ve included a budget-friendly choice. This is the best affordable graphics card on the market.

When AMD set out to produce the greatest possible budget card for 1080p gaming, they defeated Nvidia handily.

For 1080p gaming, the RX 5600 XT has a base clock speed of 1,607 MHz and an increase clock speed of 1,750 MHz. As a result of GIGABYTE’s dedication to cooling optimization, we suggest the GIGABYTE version as having the best performance to price ratio. In addition, virtual reality (VR) is supported by this card!

Can the Radeon RX 5600 XT Run ACC/iRacing/rFactor2?

You should be able to run all these games on high, as long as the resolution is capped at 1080p (recommended).

MSI GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER

If you can’t afford the RX 5600 XT, there is another option. Despite being 10-15% slower than AMD’s Radeon HD 5600, Nvidia’s GTX 1660 Super is the best value for money card on the market.

The 1660 Super has a base frequency of 1,530 MHz and a boost clock of 1,830-megabits-per-second. We recommend the MSI model because it has been adjusted particularly to match your needs. When playing this game, it’s recommended to play it at 1080p, however bear in mind that a VR-ready graphics card is included with your purchase.

Can the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Run ACC/iRacing/rFactor2?

Given that the 1660 Super is just 10% less powerful (at worst) than the 5600 XT, you should be able to run all these games at high settings, at least.

XFX RADEON RX 5700 XT THICC III ULTRA

Radeon 5600 XT’s big brother, this special edition card acts as an improvement to the modest 1080p card while still being budget-friendly You can play 1440p games with ease on the 5700 XT (with up to 8K resolution). 1440p, on the other hand, is where it’s at.

Base Clock: 1,810 MHz Base Clock, which is 205 MHz faster than stock RX 5700 XT Thicc III Ultra.

Boost Clock: 2,025 MHz Boost Clock, which is an additional 120 MHz.

When it comes to performance and cooling, XFX is the clear winner. Aside from supporting the latest VR headsets, this is the greatest mid-range card available right now.

Can the Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra Run ACC/iRacing/rFactor2?

It would be a shame if a graphic card named so richly cannot run these games.

You should be able to game easily at the highest settings (also called ultra) at 1080p and at up to high settings at 4K resolution (maybe more if you tweak your settings right).

ASUS GEFORCE RTX 2070 (SUPER)

In a reversal of roles, the Nvidia is the superior 1440p card in this comparison.

Although the RTX 2070 Super is more expensive, it outperforms the AMD 5700 XT.

In spite of this, the 5700 XT remains the best all-around card (thanks to the price).

However, with 1,635MHz base clock and 1,845MHz boost clock, the 2070 Super is an excellent pick, albeit costly.

In terms of benchmarking, the Asus chip is your best chance, and it is yet another proven mid-range alternative. RTX is also a factor!

Can the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Run ACC/iRacing/rFactor2?

Broadly speaking, any 20-series graphics card should be able to run any AAA title at high to highest settings and 2070 is in the upper tier of that series. So expect top gaming at 1080p and 1440p and high graphics performance at 4K.

MSI GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI FOUNDERS EDITION

The single high-end graphics card on our list, the Founders Edition of the 2080 Ti, is the king of the hill.

The 2080 Ti FE was the best graphics card on the market before the 30-series was released. Play 4K games without a hiccup thanks to the powerful GPU.

However, the price is a bit intimidating.

It features a base clock of 1,350 MHz and a boost clock of 1,635 MHz, which means that the 2080 Ti FE will outperform any other graphics card in the market (the 3090 has it beat currently, unfortunately). Although it’s capable of 8K, the default setting is for 4K. As Nvidia and MSI are a perfect combination, the MSI version is a no-brainer.

Can the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition Run ACC/iRacing/rFactor2?

The real question you should be asking is, what can the 2080 Ti FE NOT run.

You should be able to run literally any game using this GPU at maximum settings, provided your hardware can match the GPU, and you won’t have to worry about a single frame drop.
